So once I have put a bit more content on my channel I plan on making a short video with several of the games Ive played and with my intro and outro to promote my channel.

A quick check says if i spend £10 on promoting my video it will reach between 0-1.4k people.

How have people found using this to grow there channel?

Thanks

A lot of people try Adwords as a quick fix to get more subscribers and views, but most are wasting their time and money doing this. I wouldn't advise to use Adwords or paying for promotion until you have figured out how to grow naturally and are happy with your view to subscribe ratio. If it takes you 100 views to get 1 subscriber, then 1.4k views will just get you 14 subscribers. Ask yourself, is that worth it? Chances are at least half of those subscribers will stop watching in a few weeks or months and even if they all stayed and watched your next 300 videos, you still wouldn't have earned back that £10.

Safe to say that AdWords is meant more for site advertising, rather than for videos.

Not much difference than buying views or subs.

Not true. If you really know what you're doing, Adwords can be a great addition to promoting your videos. There a lot free google adwords courses you can take to really learn in in-depth, and you can even take the exam to the certificates

Have you experimented with it? Since my budget has been assigned to text ads, I didn't have much to allocate for the video campaign (just spent a lil' just to test) and the clickthru rate was pretty horrible.

Maybe it's because of my budget but I feel that social media still reigns for effective video advertisements.
