Using things out of comics online?

Is it copyright to use things out of comics online or does it fall under fair use? I have seen another YouTuber use things out of comics so I presume it won't be a massive problem, he does a mass effect lore series and he sometimes uses pictures from the mass effect comics.

It depends heavily on the company, and the length of time each panel is used. I'd avoid anything remotely related to shonen jump (although I doubt it's their material you'd be using)
