Using Non-royalty Free Music on an Ad-free channel?

The title says it all really. My channel has no in-video ads, so I don't get any money from it. I'd like to use music that's not royalty free. I was wondering if I'm allowed?

For example, I'd like to use Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" in a trailer. Would that be ok (since it would have no ads displayed)?

Hi friend :D Unfortunately for big artists like that, no, the copyright strikes will be almost immediate.
However, do you know the electronic music label/channel Monstercat? Although the stuff released by the channel and artists are obviously copyrighted, Monstercat has a great policy about YouTubers using the music released under them as long as they give credit and don't monetize your stuff. :)

I have used Monstercat but I'm a little confused. Do I have to buy that license to post videos with their music? Also, where's the best place to download?

Also, I had a video a while back with a Tinie Tempah song and they let me keep it as long as I don't get money from it. Do different artists just have different policies?

You don't need a license, I've been using Monstercat released music for over a year now. :) I use the YouTube video downloader and go from there, or you can buy the songs off iTunes.
And yes, most of the time, different artists just have different policies.

Nope.
It doesn't matter if you run ads or not. It's still copyrighted, and it's not allowed.
Not completely true... I think it just depends. My only video on my other channel is a skydiving video, it has "Lose Yourself" by Eminem, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, and "Free Bird" by Lynard Skynard. It has not been taken down, but they automatically shut off my monetizing.

Yeah, that was my experience with a Tinie Tempah song in one of my vlogs...I wonder if there's an easy way to find out what they strike?
