Using laptop microphone and external camera?

Okay, so basically, my camera is VERY low budget (I paid £50 for it). The video quality is great, but the audio quality could be better. My laptop microphone is much better quality (if you look at my channel, my Don't Starve video uses my laptop microphone, and the rest use the camera microphone)

I can't afford a proper microphone at the moment (I've only just started Youtubing, so I don't feel the need to drastically improve the quality just yet, and I'm about to go to Spain for a year), so would it be worth just recording my videos and using Audacity through my laptop to capture the sound?

From everything I have researched online and from other YouTubers recording audio separately is generally the way to go anyway since you have more control over the end result. My last video the audio dropped to a very low level for some reason and by the time I realized it I had already compiled and uploaded it.
 
I think i know a cheap awesome microphone that you could use! The microphone is a basic gutiar hero and rockband mic that costs $14. Sounds like it would sound crappy right? It doesnt! I come with out a stand so to stand it up so you can play and talk you would need a mic stand or a toliet paper roll. If your intersted in learning more about it i can give you a link (maybe) if the site lets and you can get an super easy starter microphone!
