Using bit and pieces of videos to create a top 10

Posting Mad!
Ok, so the idea is simple, i wanna create a top 10 but with no voice on the background, just text and memes and so on. Can i use a 5-10 seconds of another person video for this without getting a copy right strike? I will post links in the description to all the videos i used.

It is always possible to get a copyright notification due to youtubes automated system, but you'll be able to dispute it. You shouldn't get a strike for using other videos in that manner though.

Well, i even got one strike to a vide that was 100% mine, not a frame or a second copied but i won the dispute.
This tho, is something else. Anyone got another opinion?

There is no protection under copyright law for what you want to do. Do so at your own risk.

These type of videos can fall under Fair Use, sometimes.. Ray William Johnson was notability known for using Fair Use as an excuse for the clips he used on his channel. However due note, Fair Use doesn't stop the rightful owner from coming after you and taking down the video or claiming the video is theirs and earning all the money off of it.

RWJ videos weren't top 10s. A simple top 10, even of funny clips isn't a fair use application. RWJ added a substantial amount of content around the parody of individual clips, which is where his fair use protection may enter the picture. He also was of the size where he drove significant views to already viral videos by small video producers, so it was always unlikely that he would get claims. It's unknown how many of them gave permission prior to use as well.

I'm not convinced of any fair use protection for a basic top 10. You'd need to do some significant news editorial or parody production value to make that case.

Thanks for the answers, i think i will do a video on a new channe to see how it will do, like a test.

If you wnat to stay out of trouble ask the copyright holders for permission. It's good practice anyway.
