Umboxing videos

Eh, I suppose I am mostly indifferent, maybe leaning more on the "dislike" side, because I will not watch them. I don't really see the appeal of someone unboxing a shiny, new toy, because it's kinda like when you're on the other side of the candy store glass - you see it, but you can't have it. Especially if it's something you wanted yourself.

Not to mention it does not really make much sense, either. Okay, you got a thing and you unboxed it... That's it.

I guess I'm on the dislike side as I don't really like watching them, however I don't mind them.

This really depends on your niche. My channel's main focus is on trading card games. A lot of viewers enjoy watching unboxings and opening booster packs because you never know what the person will get. It is also an opportunity to review the product or cards in my case. Toy openings are popular too! Collectors like to see the product's quality (another review) before buying it.

I think they can work but it depends on your audience. We did an unboxing of a PS4 a while back but made it fun as i think they can be kind of bland.

I make some unboxing trading cards and people seem to like it since well like @Franklin said , you never know what you will get and people like it and they can see for example if you're doing a tin or box they know more or less what kind of boosters to expect. That's in my case :) Also I can watch some do unboxing videos specially if it is something I am going to buy and want to know what exactly is in the box since some packages either don't say it or the come in boxes from other places I don't understand the language

I like unboxing videos. Especially from the company side of the equation. I own a company called Beauty Box 5. If you google "Beauty Box 5 unboxing" we've had thousands of unboxing videos done by people on our products. Even on the small side - a few thousand views per video it will translate into sales for us - so we give away boxes to almost any YouTuber that asks us for one. On the big side - we've had Bunny Meyer aka Grav3yardgirl review our boxes a few times. She's got over 3mm subscribers and when she does an unboxing video for us we can get 500-1,000 orders representing around 30,000 in sales from that one post.

I like them when they are of a new product that I want but that I still can't buy. But once the product goes for sale and I have access to it (in stores, because someone I know bought it...), I lose the interest in those videos.

For example, I'm sure I'll see the first videos of the unboxing of the new "New 3DS", but once it goes for sale where I live, the next unbox I'll see will be my own.

I dont really get them either I except for electronics, its a good way to see a product before buying. First impressions are important.
