So I'm using Twitter for connecting with fans, promo, etc. It's going really well and I am now in love with the tool.

Something I've been looking into is that many people say they got the boost they needed by being retweeted or received a shout-out from a bigger player in their genre. (Fun gaming videos for me...so that would be like TobyGames, Yogscast, Nova, Pewdiepie, etc.)...

Does anyone have any experience with or advice about getting retweeted by a larger player? I think it's a great resource.

Thanks,

The only time I have ever been retweeted by any of the bigger players is if I'm bigging them up and saying how great they are.

Any time I've asked for them to take a look at a video of mine etc, they're just totally ignored. I understand they must get thousands of these requests a day, but yeah it seems they're only interested in retweeting something that is relevant to them.

Indeed, and it's understandable in a way. I mean, we're their competition! :D

I have actually seen some of these bigger players retweet people who tweet at them "Hey _____. I love your channel and I've started a new channel myself. Trying to get going - would really appreciate a RT"...I've seen it retweeted by them. But, the downside I think is that that bigger player's fans just look at that as a begger and cheap...

There's no magic bullet, I know...

God for someone who's bigger than you are, but not too big. I can imagine that the inbox's of the big YouTubers are filled with people asking to get shouted out and I doubt they'll do the shout outs.

Good luck with it anyway.
