I'm thinking about trying out Twitch for some live streaming.
What broadcasting software would be good for this? And how would I get started on Twitch?

Open Broadcaster Software is what you need to start streaming. - https://obsproject.com/

There's are plenty of tutorials online to help you with setting up OBS.

Twitch.tv is pretty terrible for small streams, the 30+s forced delay kills audience interaction. You might want to try Hitbox, smaller community but works very well.

Many big streamer use : Xsplit
I tried it myselft and I like it, really easy to set up. And if you chose this program you will need the premium version for commercial use and you have the option to put a 30 second delay or not.

But yeah to answer Styxie its very hard to get some fan there , big competition on the way , like youtube ...
