Trying to diversify my channel content and need some advice on my ideas

I've Got It
I've been struggling with this for a while now and really need some advice. The initial vision I had for my channel was like, a music/vlogging channel, where I post covers, original music, and vlogs where I talk about my production process, how I write lyrics, just vlogs about my creative musings in general. Now, I haven't done the vlogging because I don't have a camera I could use other than my webcam on my laptop, and thought of maybe doing them like a podcast sort of thing? But I wasn't sure if people would really want to listen to a podcast on YouTube, so I wanted to ask you guys if you had any ideas on how to go about this.

Another thing I also struggle with is like, I feel like posting podcasts/vlogs would alienate people from my channel because they may just be coming for the music? Am I wrong to think this and am I just overthinking?

Another idea I had was a series on how I do all of this stuff as a blind YouTuber, but also I wasn't sure if anyone would really be interested in that lol. But once again I may be overthinking this a bit too much XD

- I wouldn't put up a podcast on youtube itself, youtube is all about the viewer that likes to watch and not just listen. I personally think that footage from your webcam or phone would be better than no visual at all.
- if you want to put up vlogs you should. Do what you like. YouTube is all about personalities.
- Did I understand well that you are blind? I think a lot of people would be interested to see how you manage all that is youtube.

Ok yeah I was leaning towards getting filmed footage over a podcast scenario but just wasn't sure what to do. I guess I'll have to try messing with my webcam/lighting then XD

And yes, I'm blind! I guess I'm so used to it now that I downplay it a bit too much and don't think discussing how I do things would be interesting to people, I need to stop that I suppose haha.

Thank you, that helped a lot!

If you are worried about alienating people from your channel you can do a few things. All I can think of is that you put it on your channel somewhere that you vlog as well, like on you banner or something.

Other than that it might be a good idea if you link to a music video at the beginning of your vlog, if you can work it in smoothly that is. Maybe link to the music you are talking about.

So like Vlog about song x, start that vlog by linking to vlog x

At the end of the day people are capable of not watching the odd vlog video - I am sure you will only alienate people if you replace your music with vlogs.

Good luck[DOUBLEPOST=1455112900,1455112678][/DOUBLEPOST]I mean link to the music to begin with, I wouldn't imagine it would be neccesary to do it for ever - phase it out after a bit once people are used to the vlogs.

Hello! I personally think that posting videos related to the whole BTS of the music process would be quite interesting and definitely won't alienate people because if they happen to not like it, they could just watch the music videos. Also, a phone camera works perfectly fine for vlogging, it's a great way to start! And a series about how you manage to do all that stuff whilst being blin would be so interesting! I'm sure a lot of people would love to know more about that (I know I do)

I used to do my vlogging on a nexus 7 tablet, 2012 model so quality wasn't great but it was doable. Used to edit on the thing too, was quite convenient

I have a channel that's not devoted to any one subject, and subscribers who only show up on the days that I post the video content they like (especially the hair videos), so I wouldn't worry too much about confusing your audience. Just make sure you are very clear as to when you post what, so that people can make decisions about what they want to watch.

I don't think you'll lose any subscribers by adding vlogs. On the contrary, I think vlogs could make your channel even more personal and I could imagine that your listeners would appreciate that. By the way, I listened to your cover of Radioactive and it's beautiful. <3 And I'm not even a fan of the song.

Thank you, for both the compliment and the input <3 I definitely am going to work on getting some vlogs recorded and getting that recording setup done.

Yes I agree with this response. I watch vlogs on phones all the time. I honestly can even tell the difference most of the time!
