Trying to decide which camera to buy, help?

So, I bought my first video camera a few minutes ago, the Samsung HMX-F90, and I'm going to take it back tomorrow. I only bought it to temporarily use until I bought a better one, but then I realized how much better my iPhone 5's camera was, and I feel like that alone is really sad.

I'm looking at the Sony HDR-CX260V and Sony HDRPJ260V, but I'm not really sure which to get- or if those are even good options right now. I need something that can record well in low-light settings, because I really can't be bothered to setup lighting at this point in time. Most of my videos will be shot in-doors, most likely at night. I will also be recording my 5 cats as well.

I also need a greenscreen, and I would prefer to buy it locally (as early as tomorrow) if I can, but I haven't had any luck finding them in-stores. If anyone is familiar with the Dallas, TX area, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could direct me to the right place.

My budget is somewhere between $400 - $600 for everything.

I know you wanted to buy locally but seriously check out Amazon really good deals on green screens and such.. Also B&H is a great website as well for cameras and basically all your video needs. They are based in NYC but the costumer service is fantastic.

I'd actually suggest searching Ebay for great deals - especially on Green Screens. Just be careful - green screens require a lot of precise lighting to accomplish correctly.

The best bet for a camera is probably a DSLR like a Canon Rebel or Canon 60D with a fast lens. (That means a lens that allows the most light at the processor.) This can get expensive quick and they have a steep learning curve.

camcorders.reviewed.com is a great resource on camcorders. They have a deep archive of reviews and they have rigorous tests with examples of white balance, low/high light, and digital grain.

You can also find great deals and DIY workarounds on the cheesycam.com blog.

Given your needs and budget though, I think a GoPro Hero 3 might be the best camera for you right now.

I wouldnt expect to use your iPhone with a green screen and expect good results - a green screen needs to be evenly lit before you even put the subject in front of it, which needs lighting of its own.
