Trouble with microphone?

So now that I've got this new microphone, I've noticed that I've had to be pretty much right infront of it to pick up a decent amount of sound..

I'm saying this because I've noticed that some people can be sitting a foot or so away from their microphone and still get great quality and a loud voice. Is there some settings I need to apply in Audacity? Or am I just quiet? Haha

Pls help me x0

On the front of the mic, there should be a knob. You probably have it on -10db which makes it quieter, but also gives you a clearer and sharper sound (rids a lot of the white noise).

Unfortunately my microphone's only problem is the fact it doesn't have an input gain knob on the front. D:
Well...that is an issue...lol
You could use a compressor to up the sound in audacity. Highlight the sound waves that correspond to where you're talking, go to effects and click on compressor. You don't really need to mess with the settings, you can leave them at default. That will get the volume up.

Try it out and let me know if it works :3
