Trimming Not Working

Hey,

So I've been editing videos for the past week or so and I'm literally ready to throw my laptop out the window. I'm using Windows Movie Maker and sometimes when I split or trim a clip, it'll play the wrong video footage for two or three seconds with the correct audio playing, and then the clip will jump to the correct visual in time with the correct audio. It's always just a short section of the footage that I took out from the clip when editing that it shows for the first few seconds. I've untrimmed the clips and retrimmed them, I've unsplit and resplit them and I've deleted and undeleted them. I just cannot figure it.

My video was meant to be up four hours ago but this just keeps delaying it. I've spent about fifteen hours editing between three videos so I don't want to download a new editor to restart it all, but I keep having this problem. :/

Anyone know what to do?

Does the error continue when you render your video? It sounds like either your computer is lagging or it is mistaking clips for other clips.
At some point you need to switch editors though. You'd be better off editing with a rock.

The honest answer from everyone saying "Use a different editor" is really "I have no freakin clue"

and I second those replies. Hopefully someone will stop by and help :)

I'd recommend exporting the 15hrs you've worked on and continue in another editor. I don't know what's wrong, but the source of the problem could start with Movie Maker, it's not very powerful and it's really only designed for small home videos, those mums or dads that recorded their kids playing for about 30mins and wanted to embarrass the crap out of them maybe 10-40years later.

Thanks guys! My laptop is going for a screen repair so I'll be definitely editing on a different editor when I get it back! I edited one video in iMovie on my iPad but it won't upload like my other ones used to. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. :p
