Too many YouTube gamers?

It is swamped with minecraft gamers, and im sorry to say i do minecraft or have done, the more i look at my channel the more im going towards skyrim because i enjoy it more and i think thats what people see, me enjoying myself which has given me 11 new subs in the space of a few days, so it really all comes down to the commentator, Skyrim Lets player there is probably 100 if not 1000s but its how you do it that really makes you stand out.

I think it's likely that gaming videos will always trend towards whatever is most popular. Minecraft because it's a creative outlet with a cult following; and Call of Duty because it has such as huge competitive (and casual) playerbase. I have noticed that the CoD community are more likely to have people use the videos of their game as a VLOG background -- but Minecraft players tend to show their experience in the virtual world.

Skyrim is a pretty good one to use. It's a varied game with a lot of strange stuff going on everywhere. I have never played myself, but I have certainly gotten into a few YT channels just to see what other people were up to.

i agree that there are alot of gamers. but i agree WAAAY more that if you want to do youtube as a gamer it can be done. i just reached my 1 year anniversery on youtube and im about 700 subs from reaching 30k. it takes alot of hard work making sure that u stand out from the hordes of other gaming channels but it is very very possible to be successful. hard work and consistency win when it comes to youtube

There is a viewer base for everyone.

I'm another gaming channel, although I focus on a single niche game. I'm very laid back, when a lot of others scream and yell and carry on like monkeys.

Despite my personal view that my videos have a long way to go to being "good", I have 200 subs, which for me is a lot.

If I have an audience, any gaming channel can.

It is mainly Minecraft gamers, followed by Call of Duty players who have completely swamped YT.

It's crap like these games and GTAV or whatever flavor of the month the bigger Youtubers seem to play that makes gaming channels less appealing.

I don't play trending games but I do tend to play those that I like, mostly Doom series so at least I stand out a bit.

well, also coming from a Youtube Gamer, i do think there is too many. but at the same time, there is not enough creative gaming channels. it seems like too much because everyone does the same thing. if a game is meant to be creative than recording it should also be. i try to portray my love for movies through my montages. anything different is good, with emotion. i may be too picky tho.

There's 7 billion people in the world, and millions of people on YouTube. I'd say there's too many YouTubers in general, across all categories. But, when you consider that a majority of them are terrible (because of god-awful editing, really terrible quality, super inconsistent uploads, etc.), then it's not as jam-packed as it seems.

If you want to survive and make a popular game let's play channel you must reinvent the will you must do something that no one is doing you and if you using the same game say make your own movie while playing the game or make a comedy sketch while playing the game using multiple voice actors. Those are quick examples without doing any type of additional research on YouTube to see if anyone else is doing that but put your own spin to it and remember that good quality videos don't mean that you will go viral it is exposure of good quality Videos that become successful. And sometimes the viral videos are not of good quality. So the links of your videos have to be at the right site at the right time ;-)

Oh well, Call Of Duty =D. Being bad at CoD means you can't play videogames at all.
The thing is, I could let Multiplayer games slide. I mean, sometimes you get matched against someone really good and in that case there's nothing you can do about it. The problem is when people can't even play singleplayer games. Now,if you fail a couple of times per series, I'm fine with it. But if you fail 15 times per video, you should understand that there's no space for you in the Youtube gaming community. Obviously there are some exceptions. There are games where you are supposed to die a lot ( like those mario-like platforms). But when I see someone playing Hitman at the easiest difficulty, going through it like Rambo and then dying, I could slap them so bad they would have to eat with a straw.
Also, I think a lot of people know s**t about the games they play. That's something I can't stand.
And this is a pretty common thing.
There is this RadBrad dude that said "Dark Souls 2 is not about the story, it's about the experience. Just like DayZ".
I already can't stand this guy and then my friend links me this.
I'm not saying people should know everything and spoil the game for themselves.
But yo, before you start the game, read something.
Make the commentary interresting.
Improvising can be entertaining but to a certain point.
But yo, I get called elitist and s**t like that a lot so my prospective might be way too "extreme".
I'd like to see good gamers to succeed. Not a dude screaming at the microphone because he died 3 times during the tutorial.

This in a nutshell is why I do not do gaming. I' freakin' shocking at games, so I'd rather keep it to myself... And I can't commentate for shiz

And I agree about RadBrad... He's not the best gamer the world has ever seen, and he leaves much to be desired in the way of commentating. I did like his Last Of Us though...
