To make a 2nd channel or not?

I'm having some trouble deciding on what do with my channel, I have a graphic design channel where I upload speedarts and social media design/gaming templates (YouTube banners, Twitch templates etc)

I feel like templates and speedarts are for two different audiences, I get a good amount of views from my subs and through organic search, but I feel like some don't care. I want to bring my subs what they enjoy watching, so the question is should I make another channel or keep it on one? Just want to hear others thoughts and opinions :)
 
Instead of having two channels what you could do is have different playlists for different topics e.g a paylist of your speedarts so all of those videos go into that playlist and the template videos go into another playlist so when your audience wants to watch speedarts they can just navigate to your playlists and all of your speedart videos will be in one of those playlists so it makes it easier for your audience to watch what they want to watch but its obviously up to you if you want to have two seperate channels with two seperate topics then thats not a bad idea
 
Second channels should be reserved in extreme need of segregating content. But generally there's no need to.

I have a second channel, for example, for shitposting or anything that isn't related to the real content I generate so the crap isn't relevant to the content I really make.
 
It's generally the same content (art). The only reason to make another channel would be if you were going from vlogging to gaming or something crazy like that. Just make a playlist for each one, I'm sure that'd work out best ;)
 
I would really only say to do that if the topics varied tremendously. Like DIY and Vlogs or if you say post a ton of templates and only one speedart so often. Just because even if you put a playlist up, that's dependent on if they'll go to check it out or not. It could get lost in the fray and suffer because of that. But if you're producing them equally I wouldn't say it would be a problem to use one channel. At least that my simple uneducated opinion ;P
 
Gotta agree with above comments.

We had a second channel for a while, but at some point you realise, wait, why divert your streams of audience when you could be putting all your effort into one solid channel.

In any case your videos do belong on the same channel in my opinion. And when you're growing your channel, think less about what you look like showing up in subscriptions, than your visibility in search results. You want your channel to appear in as many different search results as possible basically and that will be harder when youre content isn't all in the same place.

Also YouTubes search algorithm has a ranking factor. This makes more popular channels rank higher than less popular channels, so even if you had 2 channels with the same amount of views and videos, you would be seen less with the combined views of both channels, than one channel with the sum of both views and videos.

Thanks for the replies guys! some really helpful advice :)

The only thing I was worried about is having a lot of dead subs, my current schedule is weekly uploads on the 4th week I'm uploading templates (YouTube banners, twitter headers etc) these uploads generate more views and subs then my speedarts, I'm worried that in the long run it will affect how my speedarts perform because people aren't subbing for them.

At the moment my channel is okay but I did notice that when I check my YouTube statistics that more of my subs watch my templates, that's why I got a little worried. I actually started out as a template channel and that's all I uploaded but I find speedarts more fun to do so I switched it up a bit (my old template videos are privated due to being not as good quality in case you're wondering where they are)

I think I have made my mind made up and like you all have said it's not an entirely different audience and does make sense to keep it all in one place and to focus and put all my energy into one channel. Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it :thumbsup2:

I've done this before but I actually two channels but now I regret doing this

I used to have a channel on where I upload random videos (just why?) but then I soon saw that it is unprofessional to do that

So I started to separate my channels into three, one for gaming, one for vlogging and one for music

Music is the main channel that used to have roughly about 60 ish subscribers on it meanwhile the other two had none

But now I only focus on my gaming channel because it's the one that I enjoy more (for now) that I made and built to 165 subscribers
Meanwhile the vlogging only has 12 subscribers :crying:
