Thumbnails and Channel logo

Should I make custom thumbnails for all of my videos or should I just let YouTube choose one since they can automatically do it. Also should my gaming channel have a unique logo or something related to that

Making a channel logo is always good...honestly...all that u have to do is get on a really easy photo editor and paste your logo into the thumbnail...so yes...make a logo and make your own thumbnails...it will totally help

Always make a custom thumbnail and definitely make a good logo. Brand and consistency in how your channel looks is important. Have a look at my thumbnails for an idea of what I mean

I agree with the 2 posters above me. Custom thumbs and logo are pretty important. Out of the 2, custom thumbs should be top of your list of things to learn to do well. Do a search on Youtube for any subject and then notice which vids your eyes look at first. I bet they all have good custom thumbnails.

Logo is also important. It gets used everywhere - comments, channel discussion, channel homepage, alerts to your subs, even on places like twitter. My advice for that is to get a good strong logo and then never change it. Branding takes time and can't work if you're forever changing.

customise EVERYTHING.
Thumbnails grab peoples attention.
Profile picture let's people know who you are without seeing your name (people remember images not text)
Channel art lets your potential subs know what you're about

make everything your own

Yeah, customize your thumbnails. It doesn't even have to be something super stylized. Throw your channel name, the name of the game, and the number of episodes you have done into each thumbnail. You will find that most people use the thumbnail to brand each of their series of videos. Check out my channel to see what I'm talking about.

Definitely is better to make custom all for all your videos. Trust me. First thing that people see is thumbnails and if they like it they click on it. So my advice is for you to make your own. Use Photoshop and they will look great. Wish you best luck

Let me disclaim first that I know nothing about this. This is all opinion based on watching 1,000s of hours of youtube videos a year.

Branding is important. Make a great channel logo. But don't focus too much on thumbnails. I don't buy into the whole concept of spending a ton of time on great thumbnails. I took the whole youtube bootcamper course thingy talking you up on this. I focus more on shooting / editing my videos, title, description and tags. Those are the things that will drive you to be discovered. Its all about SEO and the thumbnail isn't part of that equation. The thumbnail will help you if someone is browsing through your content but that is assuming someone already discovered you.

Good luck - work on title, description and tags. Make people discover you through those means. Once things heat up for you then start focusing on those other areas. By that time you will have developed an efficient workflow and know what works and what doesn't.

Most thumbnails should have no more than 4 to 7 points of interest in it. It's so that you can try to draw your crowd in without flooding them with too much information
