Thoughts on channel intros?

I Love YTtalk
I change my intro almost every single video. I just can't settle on one. I always waste the first day of editing trying to figure out what I'm going to use as an intro, and then they turn out bad anyway (in my opinion). I even experimented with removing the intro entirely, but I actually found that to be pretty crappy. It's awkward having no lead-up or branding, and just dropping into a video. Makes it feel too 'home movie' and less 'produced content for an audience' if that makes sense?

So, how did you come up with your intro? Do you feel it's necessary? Do you actually like your intro, or just drop it in because you feel like you have to? Is it better to stick with one, or change it all the time?

Do you also experience 'intro fatigue'? One of the main reasons I change mine so much is because I see it about 100 times during the editing process, so I get REALLY tired of it, WAY faster than my viewers do. This is compounded by multi-part videos where I usually use the same intro across all the parts. By the time I'm done with the last part, I can't WAIT until I can change the intro again... Is there something wrong with me? (lol)

We do not have real intro but sometimes I try to start the movie with some more interesting moment. That's pretty much all. may be in the future we'll make real intro but it must be very simple and short - maximum 3-4 seconds.

I'd like to get 1 for my non-solo videos but like you I'd spend too long making 1 and that time could be better spent on the video. So I don't bother with intros. Not anymore at least.

Moved this here for you, I dont like them myself, I used to but its a waste of the chance to peak a viewers interest in your video and with it only being a few seconds before they click away one right at the start isnt something I would choose to use myself, if I had to I would have it about 10-20 seconds into the video.

I need an intro as well, one thing I can say is intros need to be short and sweet. Mine is like 35 seconds long and people don't generally like it so I need a new song and a new intro.

Yea, 35 seconds is a really long time to expect people to stay engaged. I keep my intros around 5 seconds, usually. I wouldn't go over 10 secs, you start to lose a lot of people there...

Heay I agree with Kaledio. I usually keep my intros at a max of 10s. I need to work on them still though.

When I watch other youtube videos that have an intro..... is that considered a watermark? I don't know... anyway. I don't like when they are longer than 5 seconds and even that is long sometimes...especially if I am going to watch a few of their videos in a row and its the same "watermark?" It gets old real fast. So I would say as short as possible. I am thinking of doing one for my videos, which is going to be horse and riding tips, how-to's and advice. But it's going to be like about 3 seconds.... hopefully.[DOUBLEPOST=1425997507,1425952720][/DOUBLEPOST]Okay just figured out now, watermark and intro are different... Ooops my bad.

Keep them short and sweet, I have seen tons of vids with 1 min intros on a 2 min vid. Also make them appealing to new viewers, but not too complex. Mine is not too complex but is simple enough for new viewers.
