this has been an ongoing problem for me but i think after a lot of trial and error i've fixed 90% audio problems. a big problem for me is i have a lot of background noise in my room or i want to have a fan on because it's hot =p. anyways to correct this i would use either audacity or a mix of vst plug ins during editing never really thinking of if i was using my mic correctly hehe.
anyways today i got a micstand cheap at a thrift store and put the mic really close to my mouth and put the gain all the way down. boom most background noise gone and vocals are still pretty loud and not sounding like im talking through a cup. just wish i did that sooner but i kept saying well 1 foot is as close as i can get to the thing
