The Truth About Networks

Moe Othman

I've Got It
Hello, My name is Moe, I'm a Youtuber, (Youtube.com/MoeOthman) blah blah. Anyway, I've been noticing that a lot of people are making posts stating how networks doesn't help directly push their channel forward. This is a common complaint in ALL networks. But I want to make something clear here. A network isn't going to "carry" you and make you successful. No network will. All networks do is simply provide you with tools that can assist your channel, like stats, music, etc. Most networks offer the same exact stuff actually.

Now is a network biased towards some Youtubers? Hell yes. Networks usually only focus on promoting their big members, which I'm pretty sure you have all noticed. Which actually makes sense in a marketing/money making stand point. Networks also promote smaller Youtubers as well, but theres a catch. These "Smaller" youtubers have certain qualities that is making a network promote them, which are:
1. They aren't that small to begin with anyway, they usually have over 40K subs.

2. They have some affiliation with the network. Meaning they have a management team or someone that's directly contacting the network and saying " Hey, this is my client, let's work together to promote him/her". There are some "creators" that Fullscreen ( & other networks) promote like crazy, and they aren't even actual youtubers, they're just pretty faces who are trying to get famous. So why is a network promoting them you ask? The answer is simple. Connections. The "pretty face" person wants fame, they get a management team, now that management team contacts fullscreen & says " Hey, lets promote this person together, and in exchange, our client will be in your network. So when the client gets famous, fullscreen gets a huge cut from his earnings.

To cut to the chase, Networks aren't going to make you successful, everything is on you, no matter what they promise you. Unless you have some special connections or you're famous, you aren't going to get any special treatment. This applies to every network, so no hard feelings to just fullscreen. I just wanted to inform some of you on how things work. Nothing is given for free in life, especially the entertainment industry. If you have any questions about what happens behind the curtains etc, ask away. I've been invited to be a special youtube guest at vidcon, playlist live, etc. So I know what really goes on behind the scenes.

Might see you at VidCon? ;)

As someone who has worked for many networks I can say for the most part that your statement is true with VERY few exceptions if any. Not all networks offer exactly the same thing.. maybe the same type but not the same exact product in every case. Also some networks will attempt to help the smaller guy its just usually not often or they are so small themselves they cant actually do much.

After doing some research it doesn't seem like joining a network will help me at all. I already have all the tools and resources I need to carry my channel.

I joined specifically for the tools they provided. I never expected promotion. Its a good thing because I haven't gotten any lol

What tools have they provided you?

I can guarantee it's stuff you either don't really need or can find elsewhere for free.

A network isn't going to carry you, but the issue is that they always act like they will when pitching themselves (or worse, just flat-out lie), and want to take far more of your income than is worth for what they actually provide.

They're simply not worth it.
