If I had a cooking channel and then posted a pet video, the pet video probably wouldn't do well.
This is because the cooking subscribers will generally avoid or watch little of it, thereby giving it bad stats and so YouTube wouldn't promote it widely. Even though the pet video might be thoroughly enjoyed by pet lovers!
So the workaround is create multiple channels which is a pain.
The other way is to be a big enough YouTuber that you'll have enough subscribers with cross over interests. Or to make your channel more about your personality than your topics. Not easy workarounds!
