The scheduling challenge

Well I did it.
I am moving from my home this weekend, staying at a house for 2 weeks, then moving into our new home.
To keep my personal promise to my self of an upload every week (plan to have a minimum of 52 uploads this year) I have pre-recorded 3 weeks of shows.

This was a massive task for me as I usually do only 1 per a week around working and family and 2 kids.

Shot 3 shows in 1 night, edited 1 per a night after that. Uploading the final one now...

All scheduled to go up for the next 3 fridays. Feeling good.


How many of you pre record and build up a stash of videos????

I had some late nights but would seriously consider doing it again - be good to have say 4 videos on reserve at all times for lifes little distractions......

I'm in your boat as you know with two kids, VERY hard to schedule, - however it is very advantageous your strategy of pre recording e.t.c, btw good luck with house move! :)
 
Dude, nice! Good job on remaining organised; I hope the move goes well.

I've been meaning to stockpile videos up for a while as I'm in America for 2 weeks, but I haven't got around to it yet! Hah.
 
I pre-record sometimes. As I have a fulltime job and I set my schedule to three uploads a week I sometimes just need to do pre-recordings.

When I do that I try to play and upload games where I know I don't need to edit it a whole lot.

Ahhhh the bliss of knowing that its all sorted out. I know this feel.

It's a great idea if you can do it.

If you have some reserves, then you're under less pressure. It's like an insurance policy against real life getting in the way.

The tactic should be to always have x in reserve, or to be always scheduled y into the future, otherwise you'll probably do what I did and burn through your reserves because you don't have to do something right now.
 
I am completely OCD about scheduling, so even if I don't get something in the editor before the end of the day the day before, I will stay up to all hours just getting something done. I keep meaning to stockpile a few things, but I never seem to do it. This was a terrific reminder that I need to get going on that, because you never know when something is going to come up!
 
Well the first of 3 videos is live and the computer is packed and gone!
 
I try to stay at least a week ahead, which is 3 videos ahead for me. However I have a vacation end of March for a week so I am going to 4 a week recording/edit wise so I have a buffer when that time comes.
