The right Google account to manage a brand YouTube channel

Hello there,

I've been producing content for my up-cumming YouTube channel for some time now, and I intend to scale it into a business some day. But it has been bugging me what type of a Google account should I use to create and manage the channel. Big YouTube channels (businesses) surely don't use the personal Google account of the owner right...(?) They must use one of the Google Groups like a Collaborative Inbox or something... Even Shopify says in their guide on how to create a scalable YT channel, that one should use a brand account (a Google brand account) instead of a personal Google account.

I've been wondering if any of you guys can shed some light on that... Do you use a business Google account?

not sure why it matters..and if Shopify doesn't tell you why it matters, i'm thinking it doesn't..
i run 4 channels, almost 20k subscribers between them, all from my personal account, which is totally hidden and sperate from the channels.
Don't forget that you can change ownership of a channel any time you need to, should it become necessary

That is very helpful thank you! But let me just ask regarding privacy. You said that your Google account is tottaly hidden and separate from the channels... Is that by default or you did something in the settings? I have this frustration that if I use my personal Google account, to create a brand YT channel, or just change the name of the default YT channel, that I would leave my name more easily discoverable, than if I use a Google account that a business might.

i think i may have misunderstood your question a bit at first..
So, yes, you want a 'brand' channel, not just your "joe-smith" channel.. What I meant was that I manage my "brand channels" with my personal 'joe smith' account.
If I remember, everything is kept very private by default when creating a brand channel, but you can tell just by viewing your channel. It has to be that way - just think if it wasnt how all the stalkers/haters would be going after the people that own/manage the big brand channels.

Yes, thank you so much The NotARubicon! This was very helpful, just to hear that kind of confirmation by someone with actual experience. I want to create a channel that will be both private and professional so I can scale it, and your two replies have tottaly clarified my questions. Sincerely, thank you very much.

PS
I just have to say after checking out your content - I love both, your channel, and your philosophy :)
