Tattoo Discrimination

I made a video on a some what known subject, There's plenty of articles and videos out there of people bashing on people with tattoos and their ability to be a normal human being! So of course me being a semi heavily tattooed person I felt the need to address it. Like I say in the video I know that tattoo discrimination is nothing compared to race/sex discrimination but its still a thing that affects some people!

Have you guy's ever been discriminated because of the way you look/dress etc?

I don't get my tats where I can't cover them with short sleeves at a job just because of this. The way my tattoos affect me is that I feel like I look more awesome! I have had my boss roll up a sleeve to check out my tattoo that is kind of visible in some shirts. Then I busted these two out to show him my better ones, he seemed fine with it. Now if I had sleeves I would be afraid of being discriminated for certain things like certain job positions. People know I was in the Navy so a lot of people are not surprised I have tats and are actually surprised I don't have more. The only negativity I've had from my tattoos is when my grandpa called me and my girlfriend idiots for getting tattoos. Besides that people usually like them.

I like what you say here. I'm tattooed, though not visibly when dressed. I have done a lot of hiring at my job and therefore dozens of interviews, and I've had a couple of people share with me their experiences being unfairly evaluated because of their body art. It's very real.

I don't think you need to apologize by comparing your experience to 'bigger' types of discrimination. There's always relativity, but that doesn't make the 'smaller' things insignificant. If it's important to you, then it's important.

Yeah it is real. I saw some video where a bunch of bikers with tattoos filled a movie theater to see if people left. I've met some really nice bikers with way more ink than I'll ever have. I think my girlfriend has about 9 or 10 tats and I have 3 (hers run together so it's hard to keep track!)... She is a military veteran with an MBA and working on a secondary bachelors in chemical engineering and is one of the best people you will ever meet, your ink has nothing to do with the way you think. (I had to make that rhyme because I'm gangsta like that). I'm also a vet with some education AND I believe I'm a good person. If somebody doesn't like my tattoos, that's their opinion, I probably won't like the way they look either, but I won't discriminate against them.
