Tagging tactic with Analytics

How do you guys decide what tags are best for your videos?
I have the general channel tags like username/channel name and real name stuff.
Then I use whatever I think might be the common search for my content. In my case that's "cajon" and "cajon lesson" etc.

I've used the keyword suggestion tool and that's been okay. The new one trick I've used for refreshing some of my old videos is checking traffic sources in analytics. So the tag system got a whole lot easier to fix tags (I had some pretty badly tagged old videos).

Anyway, the videos had been up long enough for me to have a pretty good analytics section on traffic sources and search terms. I basically just compared the tags with the best search terms for the video and added the top ones that I didn't have all ready. I also deleted the tags that were not even registering on the analytics traffic sources.

What do you think of this system? You probably have some thoughts I haven't considered on this. If not give it a go.

Think in terms of "keywords."
Keywords are the terms other people will search for and find your videos.
I perform many searches. I look at other peoples tags. I use youtube's keyword tool to see how often certain keywords are searched for.
And sometimes I straight up copy a portion of other peoples title.
You want to fill your title, description, tags and closed captions with the specific keywords you are targeting.
This will help you rank high in youtube searches.
Believe me, I know. I have numerous videos ranked on the first page of searches for many of my targeted keywords.[DOUBLEPOST=1352301995,1352301876][/DOUBLEPOST]This is a valuable tool
