Tag Words - Singular or sentances?

I add a bunch of tag words to each of my videos in the tag section.

I use singular words relevant to my video.

But would I be better using these words in sentances in the tag section?

For example; Beds

I use
Beds; Wood; wooden; soft; hard; low; high; child etc

Should I use
wooden beds; soft beds for children; high beds with storage underneath etc

Combination of both. But aim for the more searchable tags relevant to your video. Sentences or multi worded tags are usually less competitive than a single word but the single words do still help YouTube group your videos within that search category better. So basically don't avoid putting the tag 'beds' in altogether just don't rely on it alone.

'Wooden Beds' will be a less competitive tag than just 'beds' on its own. Same for 'soft beds for children' would be a much less competitive tag than 'soft', soft is an extremely general word that doesn't apply only to beds, so this kind of tag I'd probably avoid, it could be considered redundant. Do those tags first then put in the single tags like beds, soft, hard etc... until you run out.

Try searching your own tags as well to get an idea of what you should focus on as well and focus on the 1s that have less videos showing up in the search results. You need to prioritise tags if you run out of characters/space so keep that in mind as well.

Combination of both is right! ^

I aim for sentences because it seems to pick up more in the search engine. Try downloading the add-on "Heartbeat" for your browser and then look up related videos, this app will show the tags they chose so you can have an idea on what to put down as well.

I find that my combined tags rank higher than my singular tags. Download tube buddy to help you with some tags.

It ranks higher because no one else is competing for that tag. I can rank first in a tag that says "akfsjf lkasfj fsalk fasklj" but it wouldn't mean anything. Ranking high in high-traffic tags is best for success. IMO, the best way to do so is to use different variations of the same topic in 3-5 words.

EG:
how to lose weight fast
lose weight fast
fast weight loss
how to lose weight quick
how to lose weight overnight
lose weight now
lose weight quickly
etc.
