That One Guy
So I've been at my childhood home for the past several days, visiting for Spring Break. Now don't get me wrong, I am enjoying my time here and I love my family. However, I'm a wee bit frustrated that I haven't been able to record any videos.

You see, I do game commentaries (yeah yeah I know, so do 90% of the others here; I'M WORKING ON MAKING THEM UNIQUE ;) ). And I have a psychological thing where I feel uncomfortable recording such commentaries around other people, especially my family. I have no private room, and the house is quite small with thin walls. This worries me, because I'll be spending majority of my summer break in this house as well. That means I'll either have to break this fear of mine or think of a clever solution.

Anyway, I may as well post a question along with this rant. How do you guys feel about recording your sketches/vlogs/tutorials/commentaries/whatever when other Non-Youtuber people are around?

When ever there are people around, I just tell them i'm going to make a few recordings or so, I tell them not to interrupt me and try and submerge myself as much as possible into the game. By that point you forget that anyone else is in the house/room/flat/building and it makes me feel a bit more confident.

well i do this whenever my mother/brother/sister are home...i would talk in a normal low level voice but then in the editor, i would raise up the volume for that clip/video; it would sound clear and normal once you make the voice level up in the editor

Aha, yes I've considered doing that. Maybe I'll be able to work out similar circumstances this summer.

If you're stay there is only gonna be temporary, I'd probably just call a bit of a Video Hiatus, and take the time to just enjoy the stay :)

As for me, I usually tell my folks that I'm going to record, and they do their best to not shout too loud (They've got pretty big mouths XD) Since I waited until around the time I was partnered to tell them, they see it more as a part-time job than a hobby, which gives them more incentive to try to leave me to it when I record, haha.

Hm yes, I was planning on making it a Video Hiatus and returning in full fan-frakking-tastic force this autumn. It'll give me ample time to come up with more ideas if any of my subscribers still remain upon summer's end.

I usually shut the door and put a large sign (in red) on it that says, 'WORKING, DO NOT KNOCK, DO NOT OPEN, DO NOT CALL, NEED SILENCE'... That being said, I still get knocks on the door and people opening the door to see what I'm doing even with the mother flipping bright red sign there... Methinks it's time to move out
