wow... What are you editing exactly? What effect you want to provide? Commercial video or fun... I guess it should defenetly attract the attention.
Firstly, when you are making material you should know in advance the concept of your video. It would help you if you really get advanced with effects and wanna put the slow motion (which that effect if possible to get only if ur camera can do 60fps).
SOUND - Also a thing to think about before you start even making ur material. Sometime you will have to put some extra sound to emphasis particular moment, and I guess, you will consider to have a music in background (again, depends of ur content), which sometime is pain it the a** to control so you can set the right balance of the music and other sounds.
If you are already beginner, I advice you to start with EDIUS! Its pro software, it might have no effects and plug ins you will find in premier, but its base is very simple, especially if ur working with HD video and exporting one as well! easy import, clear view on effects, you should just take care of basic settings of clip control, so it doesn't magnet to the other clips... It can make trouble before you know it. Best thing about the export... Its very understandable to choose what you want, and export is usually faster than i experienced with premier pro.
Transition effects... If necessary, only use dissolve until you find better reason for others.
VIDEO IS NEVER FINISHED! Remember that1 You might be happy when you realize you learned how to do it, but than, you might lose the concept.
Timing of tittles, clip time etc. Is all Routine! Little talent, but... mostly, you realize bad things after you upload ur video.
Good LUCK with editing!
be free to check videos on my channel... We did them in EDIUS as total begginers... Might be encouraging ^___^
