Starting a Project!

NicoCarley

"its just a jump to the left..."
This Project is Taking an Inside look at Con goers and their daily lives, what they do to prepare for a con, how they prepare, and the event itself.

I will use this series to follow a select few people and their different stories (each person will have a completely different outlook on conventions to get more than one point of view)

What I am currently raising the money for is for production on kickstarter, I will need a better quality camera and a lighting kit, so the experience of the video is much more than that of a person just filming everyday cons. I want people to really feel the experience! so this wont happen any time soon though I am hoping for con season next year :)

This is a project to expand the knowlage and awesomeness that is the true Convention. no more "old ugly guy" no more bad costumes with tights!! LOL I want to show the world COSPLAY! :D
as well this will be FUN for me and I will be using this to advance my experience with film and video editing :D

ANYWHOOO the reason I am saying all this?
I need advice! anything you can give me!
things like, whats the best way to prepare for this?
Do's and Dont's?
what kind of things would you like to see in this?
how should i go about it?
ect ect anything that comes to your mind about it let me know!

this is something I really wanna make and make GOOD! <3

thanks for taking the time to read this long thing XD

Ahh this idea is gorgeous :') I would totally watch. that sounds super interesting!!! So i think it should be kind of like one of those hour long type reality shows (not saying it should be an hour though) where they introduce themselves and blah blah blah. And then we start seeing them preparing and then we go to a new person/people! And just show like a short clip of them preparing wigs and costumes and stuff and how much work is really spent in preparing this kind of stuff! And then you should have the people in the video enter like some kind of costume contest or whatever because it will build suspense like "will they win??" And just show some serious cosplayers i guess!!

:)

Yay! im glad you think its a good idea! and yes! contests would be awesome! I really to show with this that cosplay isnt all gross sweaty people, I recently watched this weird film on netflix about kids at a "convention" and it was NOTHING like a real con! also for show timing I was thinking like maybe two part episodes around 30-40mins :D

My advice is and you may have done this already.. find 2 or 3 Cosplayers who you can follow.. (make sure they are interesting personalities) Maybe get someone who is cosplaying for the first time and then a vetran and maybe someone older.. Like different age groups. I am not sure what equipment you have but it would be great if you had 3 cameras to follow all three.. then you edit it all together Jumping from one person to the next.

and yeah, i currently only own a canon powershot. that is what my kickstarter campaign is for, once its approved anyways.
its so I can get things needed like better quality cameras ect because i dont want this to be fail. I want this to be a legit thing, not just something shot from a point and shoot camera, ya know? lol
