The Dark Heart of My Little Pwny
I haven't finished the essay that goes along with this one, but suffice it to say, SWTOR is perfect fodder for a triple-A free-to-play game. It has the massively "singleplayer" element which is a lot like playing in an interactive book or movie, the first-two characters will probably be free, meaning people will want to buy their way into more character slots to experience more chapters, and it has all the hallmarks of a strong MMO.
The only problem is that it has virtually no end game. The same could be said for games such as Star Trek Online, yet it has a fairly decent free-to-play model I believe and if they continue to release free expansions (with for-pay elements to keep their model up) it could go on forever with that TV/movie IP.
The same with an IP like Star Wars -- if they keep giving people access to their themepark on the free basis, but then allow them to buy into the tourist trap of virtual items, extra content, and the upcoming end game, they'll probably have an evergreen game that people enjoy playing with their friends and sometimes buy overpriced food and stupid T-shirts from.
