Well free I am not sure. I use adobe Premier. I mean if you could get Vegas or something your better off. You could also try cheaper ones like camstasia or something.

Split screen game videos can be made with only a capture card, 2 controllers, a tv, and your computer.

You can always try using a screen recorder that allows you to record your webcam at the same time. I don't think any are free though. You can try to get a free copy of Adobe Premiere (I think version 2 is now free, but it's old). I use Premiere Elements 10 and 11 as well as Premiere Pro. Elements 10 and 11 are usually found under $50 on Amazon. Those make it easy to do split screen.
