Speakers or Headphones When Editing?

Michael

I Love YTtalk
I was wondering this as I am rather particular when it comes to audio and editing, I really dislike having to edit video/audio when using speakers and normally I use headphones. I think I am able to judge the audio quality/volume better through headphones and I prefer using them.

What do you use and prefer when editing videos and is there any particular reason why? What kinds of speakers/headphones do you use when editing?

At the moment I am using a Turtle Beach Ear Force X12 headset as my usual headphones are being borrowed. I hope some day to have a good quality pair of wireless Sennheisers.

When you are editing, you should always use noise canceling headphones, so you get the most accurate representation possible. That said, don't judge the audio levels based on what you hear through your headphones. Just look at the decibel level meter in the editor. It should always be around -12 decibels with peaks at -6 decibels. :)

If someones home I'll use headphones because especially when I'm going back and re-playing certain lines, etc. Also headphones come in handy when you're editing audio levels.

Using headphones sounds like a fantastic idea! I never even thought of that.

*writes down on list of things to invest in*

I mix through my speakers. I find it gives me the real sound, and I can hear much more!

I have to use headphones because my computer is near the living room.
Hopefully, by summer, I will have my filming room remodeled and I will have a computer over there.
