SoundCloud remixes question

I've found quite a few remixes of otherwise copyrighted songs on SoundCloud, where the artist of said remix has it so that their song is available for commercial uses. So, are remixed songs technically allowed on monetized videos? And if I get matched for 3rd party, how would I got about fighting it?

Remixes that are given a certain degree of originality are classed as derivative works. A separate copyright is given to the remix as its technically classified as its own work. It may get matched for content as part of the original song, but that's just the danger of the remix. It does mean you can fight the claim later on though as its not copyright infringement of the original song.

TL;DR
You can use it and fight strikes because its a derivative work.

Thank you for the detailed answer <3 This really puts me at ease

You "Might" be able to use it. I'd be careful with the affirmative. Remix has such a wide berth of potential derivative work compliance or outright infringement, depending on the amount and substantiality of the content.
