Sony Vegas vs Final Cut

So I've recently downloaded Sony Vegas 12 and been testing it for a few days now but I still prefer Final Cut Pro. I use FCP at my college to edit my projects on I find it so much easier to use, just the way its set out. Whats everyones opinions? Unless you use something else.

I haven't used Vegas 12 but I've used 11 and it's really great! I also used FCP but I had a problem where my videos weren't coming out great and I couldn't find any tutorials to fix it. Now, I use Premiere Pro now but I still think Vegas is the best I've used :D

I haven't used either of those :( All I have is Adobe premiere elements...and I used Adobe premiere back in college. How much do these programs cost, do you guys know?

These programmes cost around £500-600 in the UK, but you can get it for free really easily, takes like 5 minutes :)[DOUBLEPOST=1367130473,1367129837][/DOUBLEPOST]

Still a noob to Sony Vegas but we'll see ;)

I've been using Vegas since around version 3 (i feel old all of the sudden) and have also used FCP 7 when i worked on a production house for a couple of years.

In my personal experience, Vegas is simply much easier and faster to use than FCP. Basic editing is much faster in Vegas, plus you have much more audio and composite options within the program. With FCP we would constantly have to jump around between After Effects, Color, etc. even for very basic titles or effects.

Hmmm true. I've been having problems with Vegas at the moment though, probably because I'm new to it and my laptop isn't the best for editing but I love FCP because thats what I've been using for the past two years at college. I'm sure when I get the hang of Vegas i'll change my mind. But I agree with FCP, you have to jump around from effect to effect and can get quite tedious. Thanks for the reply :)

I use Sony Vegas with a bunch of plugins. It allows me to do a lot of things I would need After Effects to do much quicker and easier. I will still go to AE for some things. But generally I'd rather work in Vegas.

It's not looked at as the most professional program by some people, but for something so "unprofessional" I get really good results.
