Sony Vegas VS Adobe Premiere

Having personally used both, I suppose i can leave my input.

Sony vegas is great for those starting out, very easy to use and its way more affordable than Adobe Premiere Pro.
You can get transitions, and other video effects, drag and drop your projects and also batch rendering is a little simpler in this program.

Premiere pro takes a little bit of getting use to but once you get the hang of it its fairly easy, rendering in my opinion is much faster in this program that with sony vegas, and don't get me wrong you can batch render till your hearts content with this program as well. The only real downside for me is the monthly subscription, But if you pay for the whole creative suite you can easily take your project and edit/ fine tune it within the adobe creative suite, example editing videos in premier pro, adding effects and such in after effects, create thumbnails in photoshop, and render with media encoder.

This is just from personal experience so I do apologize for the lack of any further detail.

As a side not i use adobe for all my projects.

Actually there is an older post with someone seeking advice on which of the two to use.

Anyway, Sony Vegas is for those who wish to simply do video edits. Good for beginners.

Those who intend to broaden their skills in the long run, like learning how to clean up audio and do some special effects, Premier Pro is a better option.

With the exception of Creative Cloud, I'm an Adobe fanboy.

I've been using Premiere for both for YouTube and client-productions for the last 5 years with nothing but praise for it. Sure, I've had a few codec issues in the past, and it's not compatible with all the media files I'd expect a $$$ program to be compatible with - but as my daily work horse, I wouldn't use anything else. I have many scary memories of Sony Vegas dying on me mid-render, forcing me to render the video in two parts and stitch the rendered videos together... But that was a long time ago.

At the end of the day it's what you need and what works for you.

For the majority of people, Vegas offers everything you need - and although it's been awhile since I've used it, for what I had been using it for, it did the job well. I moved to Premiere because I wanted to be able to do more. I wanted to create better effects, I wanted to get into motion graphics - and After Effects and Premiere were the way toward that.

Which one is better always depends on you, the user. Just as a pickup truck isn't the best car for everybody, so it goes for video editing. I've used both and I found that the best combination for me, doing youtube videos viewed mostly on tablets and phones, is to go with Vegas for 95% of my editing and supplement with After Effects for whatever special stuff I need. If I currently had premiere I would have used it instead.

But if you are deciding which one you are going to buy for yourself, then you only need to clarify what you will do with the software. Vegas is easier to learn, Premiere is more advanced. But if you will never use those advanced features, what is the justification for paying for them?

Premiere has a learning curve and it's VERY robust. Vegas was easier to pick up and go with. However, Premiere's integrated features are just wonderful.

There's also the CC issue. I use Premiere, Photoshop, Acrobat, and occasionally Audition. In the scope of that, paying for Creative Cloud was kind of a no-brainer. I would say that for MOST people, Adobe Premiere Elements would do everything you need out of it.

Premiere Pro FOR THE WIN!!! I used to use FinalCutPro but since they updated it, I hate it... Plus After Effects works so well with premiere pro.
