Sony Vegas Pro timelapse/speed up video

Hey guys ;)

I'm just playing around with SVP for the first time and I would like to know if there is any way to speed up your videoclip, where you actually can choose exactly how fast it has to be? (2x speed, 10x speed, etc.)

And yes, I know that I can hold down Ctrl and drag the end of the video.

And yes again, I know about the Event Velocity envelope and the playback rate in the video's properties.

Neither of these solutions seems like they give me total control over how fast I want the video to be!

Anyone that can help? :)

I'm not sure what you mean by it doesnt give you full control. You can control it exactly... I mean there's a cap on how fast it allows you to speed it up but just render the video 2x....

I have found a tutorial on anything I can possibly think of when it comes to sony vegas on youtube. I haven't clicked the videos about this exact issue but I know there are some that I saw talking about this about a week ago.

Well, the thing is that none of those videos show me how to do exactly what I want ;)

I want to speed up a clip with sometimes 2x speed and at other times 10x, but it really doesn't seem as simple as just writing "2x", "200%" or "10x", "1000%" somewhere! So, if you guys feel that this is so simple, could you please tell me how? :p

Yeah I know what you are wanting. I am a real noob with Vegas but I actually would like to learn this. Tell you what. I am gonna do a little playing around here for a few minutes and see if I can find your answer and maybe we can both learn something new. Give me a few minutes unless someone else tells you for sure.

Are you figuring something out? :)

Ok this is what I found. This would have to be done with you splitting where you wanted to change the video at for different speeds but if you simply hold the control button while you left click the end and drag it it changes the speed by slowing up the clip or speeding it up. Play around with it till you get the exact speed. Like I said if you want to go slow in the first clip and fast in the next you will have to split the clips to do this.

Thanks for your efforts ;) But sadly, dragging the end doesn't give me the ability to hit 2x speed (or any speed) precisely ;) Unless... I could probably just calculate how much shorter I need to make a clip in order to have it play at my desired speed :D

Yeah it doesn't give you exact 2x but I thought the overall goal was to learn how to make it speed up and slow down. I played around with it and it was fairly easy though.[DOUBLEPOST=1365991542,1365991450][/DOUBLEPOST]

but yes in retrospect if the clip that you edited was say 28 seconds and you wanted it to be 2x speed I believe you could drag it to be 14 seconds and if you wanted 4x speed drag it to 7 seconds. In theory I believe it would work with basic math.
