Sony vegas 12 WTF cant cross fade?

When i try to cross fade and add a transtition the clips dont merge one just over populates the over

Looks like this:

can someone help, i really need to add a transition

you will probably need to insert another video track and put the transition in the video track above the video you want transitioned to. I think they will just fight for dominance if you just put them on the same track.

Okay thankyou but they used to cross fade i just dont know why they're doing it now?

I found a tut and deleted the cached data from vegas...worked a treat and didnt delete any vids or anything. Works perfectly now
