Software to make commentaries that link together audio and video?

Hello. I currently edit videos using windows movie maker, and record/edit audio using audacity. It takes me forever to make commentaries because i constantly screw up and have to start all the way over from the beginning. Are there any programs where I can do a live commentary while watching the video on the same timeline? So that if I mess up, I can pick up exactly where I left off. Preferably the cheapest option, thank you.

Mistakes make you more natural and "likeable".
Maybe write a little note with the stuff you want to talk about. and even if you screw up some words, just continue talking. Or stop the Audacity recording cut away the last seconds and start the recording again.
