Software for making animations?

I would like to add some animations to my videos for explaining concepts, mechanics, etc. I would like to be able to draw shapes and have them move based on keyframes I guess. Nothing too fancy. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Depends on how much your willing to spend. A good animation program can cost from $300-$1,000 such as toon boom animate or adobe flash animation programs. Cheap animation programs stand around $40-$100 such as cartoon studio. Then again if you want to be real cheap you can use any drawing program such as paint in windows to create animations there are many tutorials on how to do this.

Hmmm... I just want something simple for making animated diagrams. Does anyone remember the show Junkyard Wars? They would explain the teams design concepts with a crude animated blueprint that looked like it was drawn in windows paint? Flash is a bit out of my league as for as price. I just want to make simple shapes move.

A good starting software is Anime studio, there are pro versions, and Debut versions along with countless tutorials all over YouTube. This software has everything including voice syncing to help you make your characters talk along with a very good bone tools which allows you to move your character very easily.
