Software for editing cartoons

Hello all, I have been thinking for a long time that I would like to branch into cartoons, I have drawn a few characters and sets and will start photographing them soon, what software do you guys use to edit stop motion and cartoons?

I don't do it, but I know Adobe Flash is a good program for this. Used by a majority of people on YouTube.

I've been playing around with Anime Studio Pro - it's less cell by cell animation and more strech/morph and layer manipulation. On the plus side it's faster to animate, on the minus side it doesn't look like traditional hand drawn animation.

It is good for getting a quick joke that's topical. The folks who make the "How It Should Have Ended" series use it!

For what you are trying to achieve I'd also suggest Anime Studio Pro, if you're going into rigged puppet style animation, it's extremely easy to learn and there are tonnes of tutorials on YouTube. If you're looking into more traditional frame by frame then try the Toon Boom products. Most of my animations were created in Anime Studio Pro, the more recent ones are frame by frame in Toon Boom Studio.

I have drawn sets and cut out characters and objects to use, my plan was to photograph the characters and objects in different positions on the backgrounds and make each photograph a frame. Thank you for your advice and suggestions, I have looked at the Toon Boom website :)
