Social Casino Games beta program

I Love YTtalk
I got the following notice on my Dashboard in YouTube's Creator Studio. I run a family-friendly channel so I have to consider whether I want to allow social casino games.

I play poker but I don't consider it more than a game of cards. In my opinion, it is a skill-based game but there is an element of chance (or gambling). I call it calculated risk. Just because I'm up $3K for the year doesn't have anything to do with LOL

But some of the other games listed below are games of chance. Slots, bingo, and lotteries don't have any skill requirements. If adults want to gamble their money, that is their decision.

That being said, if it is a digital game and there are no cash winnings, it's still just a game. To me, it's no different then people buying gems for Clash of Clans or any other game that has optional digital elements that can be purchased to help advance in the game.

What's your thoughts on 'Social Casino Games' as outlined below?
Would you allow ads to be run for them on your channel?
On a kid's channel, which still has a large adult audience, what is your opinion?

It is the parent's responsibility to create an account for their kids so that YouTube knows that they are minors.

Social Casino Games beta program

Around March 2015, AdSense will begin supporting inventory for a new standard sensitive ad category, Social Casino Games, as part of a limited beta program. The beta will be supported in English only.

“Social Casino Games" are defined as simulated gambling games (including, without limitation, poker, slots, bingo, lotteries, sports betting, betting on races, as well as other card games and casino games) where there is no opportunity to win anything of value (such as money or prizes).

Standard sensitive categories are allowed by default. Learn how to opt-out of this sensitive category.

Personally I'd prefer the ads not run on my channel as I'm not a fan of b2c gambling in general because of how addictive random payouts can be and how people loose a lot of their money going up against unfavourable odds trying to fight the 2nd law of thermodynamics. I work in a shop in a low income area and it's kind of sad how so many people come in week after week spending half their income on lottery tickets. I'd feel a little uncomfortable if I was somehow a part of targeted advertising on vulnerable people.

Having said that I think it's up to your networks sales team if you're with an mcn right? The opt out seems like it's an adsense thing. It wouldn't be the sort of thing I'd kick up a fuss over if my network did decide to opt in to this sort of system.

On a channel like yours whom's demographic is probably children I would not run those ads. Maybe on a channel that is directed at a more older demographics as it has its benefits for extra income.

I'm sure Google is only rolling this out to a select few on Adsense since it's still in beta.

I am not with any network. It is an Adsense thing. Besides, the vast majority of people with MCN's are not getting network-served ads. Adsense is being presented on most channels with networks anyway.

This come up on my channel direct with AdSense also ill be opting out of this i think i hate anything to do with gambling i have a family member who is addicted to it and caused the break up of his marriage and lost his house so its a personal thing for me.
