So many partner requests

just Moto

I Love YTtalk
I'm sure its been done a thousand times but oh well... here we go again :bounce:

I've been ignoring partner requests for ages and intend to keep doing so. But lately as my channel gets more popular the emails I get are more detailed, they aren't the generic copy/paste email I usually get.

Some of them offer $5-$20 CPM and opt-out any time. The only thing that would make me consider partnering is that I see some of the highly sucessful youtube channels who are partnered.

I'm pretty happy with the growth I've achieved this year and feel I'm going in the right direction. Am I doing the right thing to keep ingoring all these offers and stay in full control of everything just the way I like it?

Thing with MCNs is that a lot of them are utter crap. There's no real restriction with starting one and there have in fact been kiddos on this forum who thought they could start one from their bedroom as a little next to school side project. There's a small selection of popular networks that are great. The rest is bad enough to stay far away from.

Having said that, there's no reason to always ignore the offers by default. If someone makes you an offer that is better than what you're currently getting the it's your prerogative to research the network and see if they are reliable or well known. Personally I would only consider such offers if they came from high level, well established networks. And if that's the case, don't be afraid to bargain. If they're making you custom offers then they obviously want your business, so bring items to the table that you want to include in the contract (though honestly a guaranteed 5-20$ CPM and being able to leave anytime you want is about as good as it gets I think, also sounds too good to be true). Most important part is being able to get out of the contract with relative easy. If a network is telling you they want to lock you in for a year, tell them they suck and reject their offer. 1 month should be the standard and not a day more. Anything less is always welcome.

If they are emailing you be sure to add them to your spam list or report as spam where you can, if messaging via YouTube report as spam on there too and you could also choose to add the words "partner" "partnership" "network" "MCN" to your community settings comments blacklist.

Let's not confuse an MCN with a VN/CA. YouTube is actually very restrictive on who can get an MCN/Affiliate CMS so lets not throw them under the bus (besides, do you know how much work it takes to run an MCN?).

This is really a question that you should answer yourself. A network is really only useful if you are utilizing their services, like music or growth consultations. It all depends on who you go with and what they offer. Obviously, look for the best deal but be prepared to be locked in if they start offering you sweet deals because they are looking for a return on their "investment". Don't just turn them down because they are locking you in for a year, look to see what they plan on doing for that year. If you feel like you can handle everything, don't sign with one but the main reason large channels are with networks is because they can handle all of your business end items (sponsorships, management, sales, financing, etc.).
