SO MAD AT YOUTUBE

Purely Peña

I've Got It
SO... My channel is fairly small at only about 2300 subscribers, and each one of my videos does not bring in that much money by far so it isn't a huge deal in that sense, however Youtube has been a little to eager to demonetize my videos and it is starting to p**s me off. I need to vent, don't know where else to go. It's not like I am losing millions of dollars or something, but it is the PRINCIPAL!! They recently demonetized a video I made about the FBI losing the wife of the Orlando shooter. I barely said anything in it and even erred on the side of caution by literally saying "I can't say much". Nothing was copyrighted, no images, no music. Just me from the neck up talking. There is NO reason they should demonetize it. I emailed them and they emailed me back saying it includes sensitive content. Then a few days later it was monetized! HALLELUJAH! then today I check and it is demonetized again, PLUS 2 MORE OF MY VIDEOS. THANKS A LOT YOUTUBE!!! THANKS!!!! Now I have 3 videos that aren't making any money. they all deal with reporting on current events in the news. I don't see why I can't post that? It isn't like I am telling people to go join a cult. I literally just say what is being reported, and give my opinion on it. Why are they SCREWING WITH MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH? I am so F ing mad. I feel like I want to bring a lawsuit against youtube. what the F happened to freedom of speech? I had recently just changed the intro on my channel to say "uncensored" under my name. NOPE. not anymore. Now I have to re-do my whole intro. Thanks so much YOUTUBE. f*cking stellar. I don't know if I can post the links to my videos here, but if any of you are curious, just go to "barbie pena" on youtube and search for my most recent videos. One on orlando shooter, one on shooting and philando castille, and one on allegations of Donald Trump rape.

They are correct though, it is sensitive content. They're still letting you keep the video as it is free speech and your opinion theres no problem there making a video about sensitive topics. But i can see why making money out of videos with situations where ppl have lost their lives can be looked down on. Its not like youtube hates you they demonetizes your videos out of sincerity for the ppl who are mourning or hurting. Nevertheless i wish you a good luck.

I know someone who's having the same issue with her videos, she says she believes it's because of the advertisers and not because of YouTube necessarily

yeah I agree, you have freedom of speech but advertisers pay for the ads, they simply wouldn't want to be associated with such subjects.

Like say mcdonalds, wouldn't it be weird if people watched a video about death & destruction then at the end.. oh by the way try our new cheese burger meal, i'm loving it.

There's so much negativity in the world and on tv, perhaps look for more positive things in life and not wait for something bad to happen to talk about

Do you know Keemstar? He also talked about the Orlando shootings straight after the event occurred and even monetized it. He had over 1.5 millions subs at that time and you know what happened? He got so much hate, soooo sooo much that his subs dropped drastically! Almost all the news or the people who talked about Orlando didn't monetize videos because they knew it's an inappropriate thing to do. I also made a painting for Orlando but I never tag the shooting in it nor monetize it. Youtube really cares about your freedom of speech, just be sensitive about it!

It is not a copyright issue. You have freedom of speech. It is simply that advertisers don't want their ads appearing on videos talking about death and other such sensitive subjects. Imagine if you're talking about how sad it is that these people are dying and then all of a sudden, there's an ad break of people drinking pepsi cola and laughing and joking. It makes the advertiser look pretty bad and obviously they don't want that.

By reading all of the comments above my post, I can say advertisers don't want to put ads on sensitive topics. I wonder when we are watching news channel on TV telling how many people died, so many ads appear in between. So why not YOUTUBE?
I know it is not good to put ads on such topics, but if TV can do, why not YT?
