Hi Yttalk,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I am very new to YouTube but things have been going quite well. Apparently well enough for a game dev to reach out and ask if I want to play a demo of their game.

My assumption is they want me to not just play but create content.

What do I ask for in return?

Do I just take it in good faith that it will promote my channel?

I have already done videos for the Beat Saber Official channel for promoting my channel in return.

Any advice, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hi Falcon,

I'm very new too & haven't been offered anything like this, so I'm not speaking from experience but I can give you my opinion as a former business owner.

You can communicate with the dev to figure out exactly what they would expect from you. Some will be happy for you to just play & give an honest review, others might have more specific requirements. Find out what the case is here & if you're interested / comfortable in what they have to say.

If you want something in return, feel free to ask for it. They approached you, so they obviously see a benefit for themselves. It's only fair that they would be willing to do something for you in return. If you want channel promotion, have a look at their social media presence or website, get a feel for what they could do for you in terms of promotion, then request whatever seems best for you.

Perhaps some other gaming channels here will be able to chip in with more specific advice to that kind of channel, but I would probably never take it in good faith that someone would do something for you without you asking them to.

That´s what I would do. Looking at your channel size (about 700 subscribers) it could be a chance for you to take it a step higher. Ask them for shout outs and mentions on their social pages (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or whatever they got) and this could potentially gain you new subscribers and maybe you could have an on going collaboration.
