Slow Uploading Time

Whatever, I'm Getting Cheese Fries
So my videos are super short, yet they take super long to upload. I keep getting this message but am not sure what it means. I upload in mp4 format is there anything important to look at? Or does it always take ages to upload?

On average what are the file sizes of your videos and how long do they take to upload?

Uploading to YouTube uses your internet upload speed. I had the same problem a while ago when I was with Sky because I got around a 0.9mb upload speed but then I changed to Virgin Media and now I get upload speeds of around 11-13mb which uploaded a 20 minute video in around 10 minutes :D

Also I don't know if mp4 would effect it because I use wmv to upload to YouTube because I used to have trouble rendering using mp4 and wmv works every time :D I'm from the UK so the internet providers would be different to where you are so if your internet is that slow I suggest doing some research and joining a better company as long as your contract has ended :D

There are 3 factors when it comes to upload speed on youtube.
1st) (and most important) your internet connection. I suggest your run a test to check your up/down speed. (just google speedtest)
2nd) your file's size. It is recommended to keep 1-5 minute videos around 100-400MB
3rd) your file's format. There are some file formats that youtube handles better. You can visit the youtube upload page to see which are them. I would reccomend MPEG-4

That message is only for processing. There's 2 parts to upload process, one is when the data is actually being transferred, which will be shown as uploading, and processing, when your movie is being encoded with youtube's codec. If your video is a streamable type, only the second phase would be slightly shorter. I wouldn't worry about it.

As far as uploading process is concerned, for home internet connections, download speeds are much faster than upload speeds. It's not uncommon for a connection to have 10:1 download/upload ratio. Even if you upgrade your connection to the next tier, they will just give you a slight bump in upload speed typically, which may not be worth the cost. As long as you're saving your files well compressed with h264 or similar, that's the best you can do.
