I love collecting things. I have 3 or 4 different ones. Would that make an interesting video? I got this idea from someone I watched but he showed completely different things. Do I have to give him a shout out.

Sure, why not? If you think the idea is good and you got the inspiration from another youtuber, I think it's great to give at shout out. Not only is a nice gesture, but the shout out could also help you to get more traffic. So yeah, I'd say go for it .

People's collections are always fun to see, especially if they're interesting, unusual, or large. And you don't HAVE to give him a shout out, but it's a pretty cool way to interact with the community, so why not?
