Should you cut out boring parts in your videos?

I've Got It
Hey guys, PakZoric here with another question.
Our question is: Should you cut out all of the boring parts in your videos?

The answer may seem yes, but the video might look weird just popping back and forth at different places of the game. We don't know if that would look good. If there is a solution to this, please reply how.

Editing out the boring parts of your video could also keep the viewers attention because they don't have to sit there and watch you while you walk to a place far away or something. This probably isn't really a problem if you do funny things during the way, but if you didn't what should you do?

Please reply to this answering if you should or shouldn't cut out boring parts in your videos and telling why or why not. If you already are cutting out boring parts, tell us how that has worked out for your channel.

Thanks for reading! Peace!

Follow traditional film rules - use a dissolve to denote a change in time.

I would say to cut out boring parts, but agree with you that a hard cut can be confusing and jarring (often it's not entirely clear whether it was intentional, or some lag/editing failure etc)

You should try and cut out boring parts, unless they're essential to the video. Or, you could try and make the boring parts less boring and easier to sit through.

I agree, since I don't game in my vids, the most boring part of one of my vids is applying some makeup, you don't really need to see me do that, so I will be cutting that part, but I guess for gamers it really would matter. Maybe just try to say interesting stuff over it, or speed it up when you edit.

def. cut it out. no one enjoys watching the boring parts and it'd help your video retention rates as well.

This. It doesn't have to be a dissolve, but some kind of obvious transition helps. Also: As long as you don't use facecam you can always be sneaky and put in some additional dialog...

Cutting is a part of editing, and it's necessary to cut some part that seems to be weak or bad. And it's not always need a transition, unless was a different setting between A and B scene, then transition will do..

Well it depends on what game you are playing, for example if its DayZ you should probably cut out the part of you just walking through a forest for 20 minutes. But, if its a story driven game you shouldn't cut anything out because people will want to see everything that happens.

Good idea! Thank you![DOUBLEPOST=1373221620][/DOUBLEPOST]
Cut out boring parts, but in the case of playing a game with an important storyline, leave the important parts in even if they are boring.

Alright, thank you![DOUBLEPOST=1373221744][/DOUBLEPOST]
