Definitely get going now, you can talk about the new camera in the run up to christmas (plus, on a purely money-grabbing side, ad revenues are much higher at the end of the year than they will be in Jan/Feb)

Basically in the run up to new year, all of the companies who run ads on YouTube spend more per click/view. Partly because it's christmas so they are pushing their products more than usual, and partly because it's the end of the year so they are just using up any excess marketing budget they have.
Conversely, at the beginning of the new year, companies are re-evaluating all of their marketing options so ad revenues tend to take a fairly sudden drop straight after new years, usually staying lower than average until February sometime.
You will probably see a load of threads on here in January complaining about a sudden drop in revenue, but unfortunately it's just how it always is.

I know the majority of people are saying start now, but I'd wait until you know you're 100% ready, and you know your exact course of action. And that you're prepared. If you have that now, go ahead and start.

No start now because the more you vlog, the more you improve. If you start on christmas, your vlogs will not be as good as if you started now

I think starting now would be best, you'll get practice and if you try hard people really don't mind the lower quality.
