Should I monetize my channel if it's new?

I've heard you shouldn't because with low views and subscriber count, people might get discouraged if an add starts up before the video even starts and click away.

I just wanted to know what you guys thought and if that is a good practice. When should a new channel begin to monetize their videos?

I don't think monetizing help in growing a channel, people might get disappointed by ads on a new channel! Even if u monetize ur new channel, you won't be earning a lot, once you reach 10000 subs, you can definitely monetize your videos!
 
My honest opinion, do not mentonize you channel as of right now. Thew viewers you get will just see you as someone who wants money, and not as someone who wants to be dedicated to youtube as a sincere following. Plus you can't make much money right now..you need a larger amount of views and subs. However I am sure you can reach that goal of making money someday if you work hard :)
 
I think you should monetize. My impression is that YouTube algorithm promotes more often monetized channels than non-monetized (after all Google is ads delivery system above all). Also you should not worry too much about the add movies (before the main one). These movies are not easy to get even for established channels and also if somebody is really interested in your content - I doubt 5 seconds movie will discourage him.
 
My channel isn't huge and I monetize them. And recently I've been working a lot harder at growing my channel and I dong think it has negatively affected my growth. People are used to seeing ads I feel like.
 
I don't recommend it especially if you are just starting out, you aren't going to earn much money, you'll have more copyright troubles, people don't like ads on new YouTubers, I 'd say wait until you have ~500-1000 subscribers until you decide to monetize your videos if you really want to.
 
I don't think it hurts it at all. I monetize my videos and I only have 13 subscribers. Right now I'm at .48 cents on total estimated earnings. I would do it at the beginning. You don't want to gain a bunch of subscribers and all of a sudden through adds on them. Condition them to be used to adds on your videos from the beginning.
