Should I buy a Xbox 360 controller for Windows?

I play pc games on a laptop using the touchpad which is quite difficult. Should I get a mouse or a wired 360 controller for windows? (The Official Microsoft adapter is no longer sold). If you could name a cheap mouse or place to get a controller that'd be great. I wish you could just use the 360 controller on pc without buying anything. The main reason I hardly use my 360 is because you have to pay for everything. It's too expensive.

actually, i have usb xbox controllers. no need for adapters. where did you get that from?

If you are more comfortable with a controller, then get a USB one. But I would say getting a mouse is the most effective and cheapest way to solve your problem.

I have two (well ones broke) wireless controllers. When u google xbox controller to pc the xbox/microsoft website says you have to have a receiver/adapter. Also my friend said using a console controller takes the whole point of pc away which I kinda agree with though its so much easier to control

what do you mean by a receiver? that makes no sense. i have a usb xbox controller. (i think the main reason Microsoft made them was because of games for windows) oh and if you are a steam gamer you can get their controller. i think they made them anyway.

Get either the 360 controller or 1 of the current gen controllers, I've heard XOne controllers were meant to work with PC and so were DS4 but DS4 were supposedly limited? Needless to say XInput is used by developers more so an Xbox controller would be better than DS, if you use non-XInput controllers you'll have to recustomise controls for each new game you play. Wired would be better but the wireless adapters can be purchased from EBay if you really want to go that route. But any XInput controller would work the same as the official MS 1.

You need the wireless receiver/adapter if you're using a wireless 360 controller on PC. lol how else would it communicate with the PC? xD Also the steam controller I'd advise against for now. Wait a while till more reviews come out, it seems like a laptop trackpad more than a controller.

Go to the wireless bet and you'l see. I tweeted Xbox and they said it's a discontinued product. There's hundreds of 3rd party versions on ebay but I wouldn't risk it. supportdotxboxdotcom/en-GB/xbox-on-other-devices/windows/xbox-controller-for-windows-setup#4633661f1c5a43708009a1eedb9c882c

That's stupid, "the point of PC" wtf kind of nonsense s**t is that. Yeah, if you want to use MS Word then of course it takes the way of the point of a PC if you try using a controller since you can't bloody type. If we're talking about gaming the point of gaming is to have fun in your way. If you feel comfortable using a controller use 1. Needless to say FPS games are better with KB/M, that's a given but you can also sit back and relax with a controller if you want to play some SP FPS.
