I'm thinking of adding programming tutorials to my channel, but I don't know if this is a good idea. It kinda makes sense because it's a gaming channel and games are made by programmers, but still I'm not sure. What do you guys think?
I am a gamer and game developer. About 1/3 of my subs came from my programming related videos. They also watch my gaming videos, so I don't think it is bad. Just make sure they know that you are a gaming channel before they sub.
As long as you make sure that you appeal to both sides of your subscribers than you wont have a problem, just don't neglect one group of them, that could result in loss of an audience.
The gaming side of YouTube is so saturated and very hard to get noticed in. So anything that you can do to set your channel apart from the rest would be a good idea. Adding programming videos to your channel could be something to set your channel apart.
If I could do programming tutorials in addition to my gaming videos, I would do so. However, I lack the skills (and the time needed to be good enough to do tutorials).
