Shortening a 1 hour video to a 10 minute video?

Editing this down is so hard! So far, I've chopped a one hour video to about 20 minutes. I've been cutting out anything boring and unnecessary. Sped up a couple of parts but slowed down some things too...Now I'm just stuck here with a long az video. Any other editing suggestions? Would you watch a 15-20 minute video? Honestly, I don't know a single person who'd dedicate that amount of time watching a youtube video.. bleh.

I'm not sure what you're editing, but I aim for a video length of about 20min.
Beside that, I personally watch a few hours of YouTube videos per day. So now you know (of) a person... ;)

That depends on what it is. I wouldn't watch such a long video for a vlog or game play, but I might for a short film if it's good. Honestly, even 10 minutes is long for a YouTube video.

omg I feel your pain so much. Ok these guys are exceptions to the rule, but you and me both know, a 20 min vid is not gonna get near as many views as a 3 min vid, but then you go "every moment is right though, the whole thing says what I wanted to say" so you're stuck, do you take out good parts that should be there, so people will click it? Or do you leave it all in, because it was real and it SHOULD impact people with an attention span? I have no answer for you, only the fact that I have the same problem, and know your pain.

You could divide it into two parts, 10 mins each or even four parts with 5 mins each, if the video is interesting enough and you can find a way of peaking interest for the next parts it could work well and you could link them all together with annotations, it might not be suitable for your video though.

Honestly no I wouldn't want to watch a 10 - 15 minute video on youtube, in my opinion that is a little too long. I would maybe watch an 8-10 minute video at max and still stay entertained...
